Excellent breakfast here. Not just the usual thinks but some great other choices. The breakfast salad was delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient.

I really enjoyed eating at riva last night. The service was excellent. I had a beautifully cooked steak with the red wine sauce and it was sooo sticky and yummy I literally had every last drop! Will be returning shortly x x

The food surpassed our expectations and the staff were helpful and attentive. The seafood platter was the standout dish for us - definitely worth a visit. Lovely atmosphere too.

Amazing food really tasty and great options on the menu. The restaurant is so lovely as are the staff. Great ambience and during covid the tables are all safely separated and I felt very safe and comfortable.

Really tasty food, attentive staff, nice ambience. The only tiny thing was that the chunky chips were so thick, they didn't feel quite cooked all the way through and had a slightly firm inside, more like potato fondant, rather than a fluffy interior like chips. But it was only a minor thing, overall it was really tasty.

Ate here twice this week...lunch on Tuesday and Sunday lunch. Both times were fabulous. Staff adhered to current guidelines (all wore masks) and made us feel safe, yet there was still a friendly, welcoming, fun atmosphere. I love the decor in there...lots of quirky items...and the food was delicious. Couldn't fault my lamb wrap in the week and roast beef today adorned with a yummy selection of tasty vegetables done in a variety of ways. Top notch!

We recently ate at Riva on a Saturday evening and all I could think is why hadn’t I visited sooner. The food is utterly delicious. Good quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and generous portions. Lovely service, super atmosphere and even live music. Looking forward to going back already.

Excellent food accompanied by a lovely wine

Somehow lived up to its lofty expectations as one of the highest rated restaurants in the area. The food (between two of us- beef croquettes, baked camembert, their Fake & Hale pie, fish and chips, cranberry Eton mess and sticky toffee pudding) was simple, unpretentious and outstanding, the service was extremely friendly and the price was perfectly reasonable. It's definitely a place that deserves repeat visits.

First went when in a foul mood as was feeling ill. Despite that, had a really lovely time. Been keen to return and did so last night. Had an even better time! Relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere. Good, solid food choices, including veggie and even left a finicky teenager spoilt for choice. Great wines. Cocktail was delicious and made with real passion and flare. Good value for money, too. Above all else, lovely service from a young, friendly team. A real treasure of a place - long overdue in Hale. Since Amba closed several years ago, I've been wanting a new favourite 'go to' place. Riva is definitely it.

We visited Riva for the first time last Saturday and have to say the service and food was excellent. Three of us had the lamb rump and one had a ribeye steak - all cooked perfectly. We will definitely be going back and happy to fully recommend.

Celebrated my 50th here last week and can Honestly say it was fabulous. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere and service was superb. Big thanks to Lindsay and all the staff! ??

Warm cosy restaurant and the food is fabulous. I’m vegan and although more places are offering a varied menu to include vegan options this was one of my tastiest dishes to date. The Fake and Hale pie was amazing and I loved the creamy turmeric mashed potato plus the vegetables with it were cooked perfectly. Great service too from the lovely attentive staff. I’m happy to highly recommend Riva!

After eating food in this nice place I've changed my mind about British cuisine! Meal was perfect! The owner very welcoming. For sure will be back to try Sunday roast.

Fantastic staff, great atmosphere. First time I've been in there under these owners but they've managed to recapture the old Marcello's atmosphere . If they had Sunday live Jazz on it would feel like the old French Brasserie ..

This restaurant has definitely become more savvy to the people who live in Hale and Bowdoin since it opened. Not only has it become a good venue to meet and enjoy a meal with friends, it now attracts the local clientele looking just to meet and enjoy a relaxing drink in Hale. The food, whilst basic, is well prepared and on par with the typical 'sunday lunch' style of food found in most of the regular gastronomy pubs in the area. Nothing wrong with that but personally I feel a missed opportunity to offer something a little more bespoke in an area that has a plethora of restaurants that offer this style of pub-style dining.
